April Winterton
School Counselor & Resource Coordinator
April holds a professional school counselor license and is also a licensed social worker. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor Degree in Social Work and double minors in Family Human Development and Sociology. In 2012, she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Psychology School Counseling.
After 7 years’ experience working at Workforce Services and 3 years’ as a school counselor, she is excited to use her skills and experience at Ohana to support those experiencing difficult circumstances. Her previous work experience includes working with many pregnant (and often single) women to become independent and gain needed resources/support. She also has helped older foster youth gain employment and needed schooling.
April is married and currently lives in Tabiona, UT with her husband. She loves being a Mom of 3 and her children are ages 6, 3, and 1. She enjoys going hiking or swimming as a family. When she has time, one of her hobbies is figuring out yummy desserts she can make that still taste good while accommodating her food allergies. (She can’t eat processed sugar, wheat, or dairy). Her latest success was a yummy coconut cream pumpkin pie.
April loves helping connect people with the resources they need to help meet their physical, emotional, and educational needs. She believes everyone has strengths they can use right where they are at so they can reach for their potential and their dreams. She knows we can reach our dreams, even with children, and often because of them. She feels her own children have helped strengthen her to become a better and happier person. She loves looking for the best in people and connecting them to education and other resources that help them the very most.
